Living with GI Disorders

Functional gastrointestinal (GI) and motility disorders are long-term conditions that can impair quality of life and well-being. Symptoms that change over time and are hard to talk about add to the challenge of living with one of these conditions.

Living with a functional GI disorder or motility disorder affects not only the child who has the disorder but also many others, especially family members and friends. It can also touch on relationships in the classroom and in social interactions.

It is important to understand the condition and to advocate for better health. If you or a friend or loved one has a functional GI or motility disorder, it is also important to understand that you are not alone with this diagnosis.
